Mitingar Women and Girl’s Association

About Us

We are connecting grassroots women and girls across Vanuatu’s 5 provinces and 65 islands.

Who We are

Mitingar is an idea whose time has come!

Mitingar is walking with the women. We are the same. We are their voice.

We are the grassroots Women and Girls of Vanuatu. We are the Heart of our Nation.”

— Mary Jack, Founder of Mitingar Women and Girls Association

Why Mitingar is essential

As grassroots women we are determined to empower ourselves.

We are concerned about our communities and the impact of back-to-back, climate-change-driven, natural disasters on our food, water and energy security.

Our sole purpose is to represent, advocate and resource the projects we prioritise as essential to our needs.

How We Help

Mitingar is here to help develop the skills, capacity and resilience to build and sustain our own women-led initiatives.

To navigate opportunities, on our behalf, to resource the programs and initiatives we want to deliver.

To be the representative body providing the women of Vanuatu with a permanent seat at the local, provincial and national decision-making table.

Our Vision

Our Vision is a Vanuatu where grassroots women and girls are empowered, resilient, and at the forefront of community development and national progress.

Our mission

Our Mission is to unite, empower, and amplify the voices of Vanuatu’s grassroots women and girls across all 65 inhabited islands; facilitating active participation in shaping a sustainable and equitable future for us, our communities and our nation.

Our Theory of Change

Mitingar’s ‘Theory of Change’ posits that empowering grassroots women and girls in Vanuatu, to lead our own development initiatives, is essential for sustainable community transformation and resilience.
